一直不喜歡被人问我大學裡學習甚麼專業，不為甚麼，只因喜歡那些蕴含勒何種意味的一声"嗤"。被问得不耐烦的时候，我会搪塞说我是学汉语言文学的，竟然有不少人不知道汉语言文学就是中文。当他们好不容易明白了汉语言文学就是中文的时候，我又会听到很奇怪的反问："中文还用学吗？"
　　残酷的现实令我深感惊讶和不安。难道中文真的不用学吗？
　　在我的印象里，中文係是六七十年代的热门专业。在80年代末，当我选择专业的时候，中文系还是个令人尊重的係程。後來，中文系的地位一落千丈。同學朋友們都加班加点地学外语去勒，而中文则被漠视。
　　現在，考試大綱是高悬在我們頭上的利劍，没有人敢等闲视之。大家都明白，能否过关的关键全在外语，而对绝大多数人来讲，则是英文。
　　我始终不明白，为什么考研非要考英文。中文可以不考，但英文不考则万万不可以。
　　導師講，專業不盡如人意可以再学，英文必須標準。考研、评职称、竞聘公务员等，离开了英文那是不可以的。最搞笑的是，在一度流行的所谓学习高科技的内容里，英文是必不可少的，不知道英文是屬與甚麼樣的高科技。
　　在中国传统文化的概念里，"萬般皆下品，唯有讀書高"，而在现代讀書人的目光里，"萬科皆下品，英文最重要"。五六十年代流传"学好数理化，走遍天下都不怕"，现在的中国则到了"只要学好英文，就甚麼也不用怕"的境地勒。
　　英文决定着你是不是可以进入更高一级的文化殿堂，英文决定着你是不是可以拥有更高的地位、更好的待遇……
　　难怪在考研失意者的网站里，不少人痛哭流涕破口大骂。骂归骂，若想进一步深造，还得去啃英文。众所周知，在尊重知识、尊重人才的旗帜下，一个不可漠视的趋向是，考研队伍越来越大，参评各种职称的人越来越多，各种各样的英文辅导班层出不穷，各种各样的速成书籍铺天盖地。
　　更为可怕的是：正是在这样不断强化的导向里，中文逐渐被英文奴役了，成了英文的依附。英文成了高贵血统的宠儿，中文则被英文不断地俯视。
