2005年10月29日 下午6點44分57秒Music Introducing - Vashti Bunyan, UK

We might be too young to know, Vashti Bunyan.
But its almost like an angel singing and it could hug yr soul,
when u are listening, and she was such a legendary woman
from the classic britain between 60's & 70's.

Its been 35 years later for her second album "Lookaftering" to release,
meanwhile, back to the 70s, her first record, "Just Another Diamond Day"
has become a "lost" record throughout many yrs till it turns up into a cult
for the 60s-70s british dreamy folk, which also became a classic right now.

Random Thoughts about HK Graphic Design

Turandot Agrippina - Opernhaus Zurich, 1970

Josef Muller-Brockmann:
"I still reserve the right, at any time, to doubt the solutions
furnished by the Modular, keeping intact my freedom, which must
depend on my feelings rather than my reason."

This is the conversation between me and Viv, coz i show her what michael place writes
about his feelings on graphic design some time ago, she finally checked that email and reply:

After reading Adrian's book,
i think out loads of things, keep questioning myself, it was so true for the fact with the ups and downs and i should always try to keep myself "balance". Viv will leave around Nov, she has been working in this company for 4 yrs......its hard to imagine and she really was so cool to keep her standard and give influences to this company dominate by "sales & marketings", Paul Rand once said a funny idea:

"Most clients are nice clients. It is the people in between who give you the problems: the account executives, the marketing people. They destroy people’s work: ‘this should be bigger, this should be up here, there should be a sun here with a price"

I have start to work for almost 1 yr, among all things i still sense that my typography sense is still weak with certain problems and especially chinese typesetting, yet it might be a good thing when theres room to improve and re-learn.

when i was a student, my fd randi point out that my types were horrible, he was so honest and straight forward, thats why i like him, and i start to read bks introducing by him, and try to self-taught coz i want to improve, even now i still want to learn more, try to get away from somone's shadow, try to find the balances between commerical, and try to enjoy myself.....but wht was happening so far?

if i say theres still room to improve, then theres not much room left to take chances, not much room left to insist...sometimes i feel ashame of doing wht i was doing, someone said "Wht do u expect? Thats lifes.." u know, this is really a fucking bull shit, and i am sure that for the losers agrees with this doesnt know what  "Life" is anyway, its not a statement or rules for anyone, and its almost same as drawing a circle around u and say "This is the world", i cant understand wht was happening at all.......sounds odd but if i say geothe writes when he was 23...4, kafuka was kafuka around 26..7, PJ made "bad taste" when he was a U-student......tschichold, brockmann, crouwell, ex. jetset, saville, farrow, julian was changing the graphic world when they are young.....etcetc, wht are u doing when u are 23? its not saying "i have to be famous and change the world", but are u being or knowing yrself, whts inside?? not many ppl, no matter adults or kids really cares about that but i am glad that i know many of my fds were fighting hard for their own dreams!

Why ppl would skip away from that part? coz its the easy way out, was it? Kind of twisted concepts for the existing fuck up kids, its obvious to see the fact when u know that they were fed up by shit, they were supposed to be shit, yet, they will grow and be our clients in the future, just like my sis, she was just happy to watch rubbish tv and enjoi crab canton-pop, dumb ass movies, junk food, love stories....well, its normal when its part of growing but there were so few channels and space for them to develop themselves......i am sure it wont be solve within many yrs or forever.......as well as the education i had in the great School Of Design, with the lovely tutors...i am sure this is really the end of the HK graphic design future, solutions? nope, just try to survive, like surviving inside a zombie movies, instead of a cult one, its a 100% commerical zombie films that u could never imagine, my fd~

the end

p.s.
fuck u! asshole! don change my design!

Its not anything "Latest" but i want to talk a bit abt it

Some of you might have heard of the "Bloc Party" on the radio,
yes, they are now definitely well known but i want to say that
they really worth it.

http://www.v2records.co.jp/special/a071_sc/041203/special.html

the japanese official released their EP song "Two More Years" Video

its a very special post-punk band around this year, most ppl like to compare them
with last year franz ferdinard but i think they bring a greater impact ~! and they also
perform during the rock festival in japan too.

with Kele Okereke's half rap half sings funky style, and wonderful mixture between
Russell Lissack's guitar-noise feedback and Matt Tong's powerful choppy drum~
a very cool and energetic funk, punk band like a combination of Prince and Joy divison
