Like, in contrast to love, is partial and incomplete. It is temporal. It is not eternal. It is a form of imperfect communication and is multifaceted. Then, "like" in its many diluted forms is practically incomparable to love as love in its true form is unadulterated pleasure.

Though the meaning and intentions of words are dichotomized over time to fit man's need, in their natural power, in their true meanings, some words and terms cannot be changed. To like is a collectively generic term. It is interchangeable. Love is well defined and unchangeable in its true form. It is a powerful, active emotion and one of the most conscientious parts of human personality. The mighty emotions of love have forever stimulated mindsets, and have positively and negatively affected and governed relationships between individuals since the beginning of mankind.

There is a fine line between like and love. "What the world really needs is more love and less paper word.

well, of course like and love arn't so black and white. i was being pretty vauge. i mean i like to smoke my cigarettes but i definately don't love them, yet, it pains me to go without them. but i mean, i like the wind in my hair, or the music that i listen to. but, in all honesty if those things didn't exist i could still go on without them, yet my friends, my family, and my lover. if they were to leave me, i'd be fucked.

I can't love myself because I think that borders on arrogance. Yes, I can respect myself, but loving myself is too much- that's for people like Cristiano Ronaldo. Yeh there are plenty of women who I may like, but love is limited and you only find it in someone special, I don't agree with holding feelings in either, because you become your own worst enemy, if you have strong feelings for someone I would rather tell the person I have feelings for, rather than holding them in and thinking "what if"? later in life.

I see your point, but with actions and emotions I usually do things to keep myself happy- I wouldn't call it love though, because love would be too strong, it's more like respect.

Isn’t something that drives all our actions supposed to be “strong” too? I think 'respect' would be an understatement.
But then again, everyone has their own way of interpreting things. =)

I would say it might involve confidence, with myself I would say I'm not the most confident person in the world, so it feels like respect, whereas it maybe feels like love to yourself because you're more confident than me perhaps.
