Literally, words continue to lose their literal meanings! Like and love are sometimes believed to be synonymous to each other. However, there is a great difference between the meanings and intentions of the terms, like and love.
The word like has many, many definitions. The term love has few. Like is broad and generic in expression. Love is tight and confined compassion. Like is a wide road of choice; love is a narrow road of consistency. Both like and love are affirmations that connect people and places for life. Like was made an official part of language around early 1150 - 1200 and meant literally, of the same body or form.
Ancient, the term love is active and dependent. It is determined by action and emotion. Like is a passive, independent term as its meaning is not solely influenced by actions or the feelings, but more so, comparisons. Like is an interchangeable word predominantly used to enhance parts of speech. Relative to love, like is often used as a watered down version of love. Love solidifies and edifies life! Then, one greatly outweighs the other in meaning, task, and definition.
The term like is used in many parts of the English Language. It has a vast array of meanings. Used in a variety of senses, like, is an active voice; a term used in many parts of speech. The word, like is used as a adjective (a modifier), a preposition (modifying verbs, nouns, and adjectives), and as a conjunction (connecting words). Like as an adverb (modifies a verb), describing something near, close, or approximate; For example, She is more like 50! Like can also be used as a noun (a person, place, thing, thought, or idea) to describe something; Several executives, business men, and the like, were at the bar. As well, like can be used as a verb; he likes me and I like him. The word "like" can be used as an interjection; "the concert was, like, really great." The term like, in several different meanings, takes on many forms and therefore differs tremendously from love, a singular term. Like is often a prelude to love.
Love in the proper sense of the word is always a verb! It expresses action, a state of being, and/or a relationship between two people, places, or things. It is described as a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. Love in truth is forever and it is active. It is intimate and impacting. Love is one of the greatest emotions gifted to mankind. Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who
grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity. ~ Henry Van Dyke
Evolving, the true meaning and intent of the term love has been adjusted to fit man's burning desires. In a worldly, love is perceived as a highly definable, flexible notion. It is not! Love's true identity has been masked by a myriad of inconsistent notions of what love is. More often than not, love is redefined and its meaning becomes confusing. Surely, love includes relative sensations such as admiration or affection. Passion and rapture define the genuine amorous feelings felt when love is a shared sincerely between two human beings. However, these terms alone cannot begin to encompass and define the delightful experiences of true love.
What does love have to do with it? It has to do with everything! It is the beginning, the middle, and the ending of life. In the biblical sense of the word, love suffers long; it does not envy; it does not parade itself; it is not puffed up; love does not behave rudely; it does not seek its own; it is not provoked; love thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity; but, rejoices in the truth; love bears all things; believes all things; hopes all things; and, endures all things. In reality, and naturally, love never fails! It is unswerving.
General and unrestrictive, the meanings of like pale in comparison to the meaning of love. Love is taking responsibility for others. It is embracing the good and the bad. Love is unselfish and kind. It allows us to set examples in forgiving abundantly. Love serves the greater spirit of mankind. It flows from divine nature. It never changes!
Like, in contrast to love, is partial and incomplete. It is temporal. It is not eternal. It is a form of imperfect communication and is multifaceted. Significant and distinguished, love in raw form forsakes social status and accepts a place beside those we desire to serve. Love is undefeatable benevolence in sincerity and unconquerable good will ad infinitum. Then, "like" in its many diluted forms is practically incomparable to love as love in its true form is unadulterated pleasure.
Though the meaning and intentions of words are dichotomized over time to fit man's need, in their natural power, in their true meanings, some words and terms cannot be changed. To like is a collectively generic term. It is interchangeable. Love is well defined and unchangeable in its true form. It is a powerful, active emotion and one of the most conscientious parts of human personality. The mighty emotions of love have forever stimulated mindsets, and have positively and negatively affected and governed relationships between individuals since the beginning of mankind.
There is a fine line between like and love. "What the world really needs is more love and less paper word.

LOVE MY FRIENDS
WORLD WAS ON FIRE
NO ONE COULD SAVE ME BUT U
STRANGE WHAT DESIRE WILL MAKE FOOLISH PPL DO
I NEVER DREAMED THAT I'D MEET SOMEBODY LIKE U
AND I NEVER DREAMED THAT I'D LOSE SOMEBODY LIKE U
NO, I DON'T WANT TO FALL IN LOVE
[THIS LOVE IS ONLY GONNA BREAK UR HEART]
WITH U
WHAT A WICKED GAME U PLAY
TO MAKE ME FEEL THIS WAY
WHAT A WICKED THING TO DO
TO LET ME DREAM OF U
WHAT A WICKED THING TO SAY
U NEVER FELT THIS WAY
NOBODY LOVES NO ONE

well, of course like and love arn't so black and white. i was being pretty vauge. i mean i like to smoke my cigarettes but i definately don't love them, yet, it pains me to go without them. but i mean, i like the wind in my hair, or the music that i listen to. but, in all honesty if those things didn't exist i could still go on without them, yet my friends, my family, and my lover. if they were to leave me, i'd be fucked.

I can't love myself because I think that borders on arrogance. Yes, I can respect myself, but loving myself is too much- that's for people like Cristiano Ronaldo. Yeh there are plenty of women who I may like, but love is limited and you only find it in someone special, I don't agree with holding feelings in either, because you become your own worst enemy, if you have strong feelings for someone I would rather tell the person I have feelings for, rather than holding them in and thinking "what if"? later in life.
2009年7月16日 2:52Re: Re: what is difference:::>love==like or love>like or love
all your actions and your emotions are the response to love for yourself hehe. I don't think it's something we choose rather out instinct!
For example, people commit suicide not because they hate themselves but because they cannot see themselves suffer any longer.
you don't have to believe it, but consider giving it a thought :)

Isn’t something that drives all our actions supposed to be “strong” too? I think 'respect' would be an understatement.
But then again, everyone has their own way of interpreting things. =)
