What I did in Chaoshan part 1

Chaoshan = chaozhou + shantou, the home place of my grandparents on the mother's side. the area also includes a number of towns and counties. it seems tedious to lay out the entire itinerary of the school trip here. somebody else has already done it. check out his entry on 5th and 2nd July. xanga

throughout the trip I was hanging out with these peeps most of the time. yeeya, lok and winnie.

Kaiyuan Si (temple); the wall next to Hanjiang; a retarded memorial bridge celebrating a communist general who betrayed Kuomintang and demolished its armies; and the Evergreen Lake (origin of Hong Kong's East River water)

PRC is the biggest propaganda machine

That bridge is fxxking retarded because I hate all these propaganda practices. China is always forcing you to admire the communist party. like all these temples which are a thousand years old, they're open for visits not just to exhibit the cultural relics. part of the exhibition is always about "loving the motherland" or "loving the party", they put photos of communist leaders and the civil war to demonstrate the hardship. and they call these sites "exemplary base for patriotism" (愛國主義教育基地). what a disgusting idea.

the ironic part is, most of these temples/sites in china were destroyed by the cultural revolution led by the greatest leader of the communist party. and they put their showcase of great achievements next to what is left after the destruction. WTF.

these vases are 3 thousand yrs old. they were smashed into tiny bits in the Cultural Revolution. and now they're next to a room showing the uprising of the communist party. THIS IS CHINA.

Sarah Liao

Another thrilling night. This is the Stable Bend Terrace @ the HK Jockey Club. Sarah Liao was giving her speech on how the SAR government had worked on environmental issues after the handover. The food was okay =p I didn't like the lamb but the smoked salmon was delicious. =D That's Liao's purse on the right. The cell phone inside was buzzing through her speech lol

She's kinda legendary. She studied all 3 of her bachelor, master and doctoral degrees in HKU. Well... biochemist... environmentalist... why HKU? *ponders* is it good for scientists?

And... WOW!!

I saw MISS MOK !!! Miss Mok who taught me history in form 1! She couldn't  recall my name but only recognized my face. we chatted for such a long time that I seemed to have ignored someone >< I hope I didn't >_<"

That night... a few people identified my face, having seen me once before. I had showed up just once and they were already going to remember me o.O their retention was astonishing.

There're 3 random backgrounds. The first two are rear view of 2 girls in bikinis. You may get those 2 OR nothing at all. cuz the 3rd one is plain white. since some of you may complain how hard it is to read my xanga, i've added this white one and you can keep clicking the refresh button until you get plain white.
