2009年8月8日 下午2點04分14秒世界第二;亚洲第一的长沙摩天轮
长沙摩天轮最称奇之处在于它立在巨型屋顶上。将摩天轮建在屋顶不仅在国内，就是在世界上也是独一无二的。我国的上海、香港、哈尔滨和英国的伦敦都建有世界著名的摩天轮，但都是建在地面上的。
位于长沙新世纪体育文化中心城市东广场，号称世界第二高、亚洲第一高，该摩天轮直径为99米，轮顶距离屋面104米，最高处离楼下地面120米，共计安装吊篮60个，可同时容纳360人，摩天轮运转一圈约需20分钟，可观赏整个长沙市的风景。
摩天轮座舱为全封闭装置，底座设6个座位，上半部为通透式顶盖。所有座舱均配备冷暖空调、真皮沙发座椅和背景音乐。一个座舱造价大体与一部奥迪等值,安装60个座舱，相当于安装了60部奥迪。开放以来，已经成为省会集休闲、娱乐、餐饮和观光于一体的游乐中心，也是我省迄今为止最大的游乐项目。

化龙池是2005年全市恢复性保护的一条历史街巷之一。按照修旧如旧的原则，整修了化龙池清代麻石路面，两厢民居仿晚清风格改造，采用坡屋顶、小青瓦、清水墙、小翘角、石库门、木门窗的形式，重现古风古韵。
化龙池是一条古老的小道，清代麻石铺的路面，整条街道不到500米。2008年下半年不到两个月的时间突然涌现十余家酒吧，还有好几家正在建设中。原来古风古韵晚清风格的小街一下变成西洋风味的洋酒吧街道，赶上元旦也迎来新酒吧街的经营高峰！
长沙是一座不眠的城市，每到晚上九点，开始了丰富多彩的夜生活，直到第二天清晨。化龙池酒吧街的涌现，又为长沙增添一道美丽的风景线，也为旅游增添一个参观休闲的最佳胜地。
