不但中文同音词会引起误会，英语同音词也会引起误会。

 

新来厂长在向质量管理科打电话：“胡乾坤在吗？”

老李带浓重的四川口音接的电话：“我们只有胡乾坤，没得胡干坤，再说他现在走开了。”

新厂长有点恼怒，问：“你是哪个？”

老李回答：“我是李祖夫”

“啊！有人想要当我的祖父？”厂长听成了“我是你祖父”

老李重复：“我是—李—祖—夫—”

厂长……

 

英语里面也会有同样的问题，下面是一个电话的内容：

 

Knott:  "Who's speaking, please?"

Watt:   "Watt."

Knott:  "What's your name, please?"

Watt:   "Watt's my name"

Knott:  "Yes, I asked you that What's your name?"

Watt:   "I told you, watt's my name. Are you Jack Smith?"

Knott:  "No, I am Knott."

Watt:   "Will you give me your name, please?"

于是两位先生同时很生气地挂上电话，都骂对方无礼。

 

懂英文的朋友一定已经知道误会是怎样造成的了：英文名字「Knott」和「not」发音相同，而「Watt」和「what」发音相同。
