Short of the pictures and the brief description in the profile, there is little about the things that sort of make me who I am in the world - my sarcastic sense of humor and passion for teaching among others.

Soooo.....

I enjoy martial arts and have trained in Isshinryu (Okinawan), Tae Kwan Do (Korean) and have been training and/or teaching aikido since 1990. My first test in aikido was at Hombu Dojo and I was tested directly by Moriteru Ueshibu, advancing two levels in the first test. If none of that means anything to you, then don't worry about it.

The sword pic? I managed fairly well with the sword and was the scourge of fruits and vegetables throughout Indonesia. Papayas shook at the very mention of my name and the mere hint of a rumor that I was coming sent broccoli into uncontrollable panic. Somewhere around the time that picture was taken, I slipped (having tied my sandals in manner more befitting of wet sand than slippery grass) and hit a bamboo pole at a rather nasty angle. The end result was damage to my blade that could only be repaired in Japan at roughly the cost of a small island nation's national budget for a year. Now, I just sneer at the fruits and try to ignore the taunts from the veggies.

I have been a teacher for many years. I remember going across the schoolyard to help out at the kindergarten during recess and lunch when I was in 5th grade. My father was a professor at the University of California, Davis. Perhaps he had something to do with it. I taught at Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia. A very fine school for the wealthy elite. The campus was like something out of a movie. Gorgeous. From there, I went into the private sector, working closely with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser. If you know him, then I need say nothing more. If you don't know him, then there isn't enough room here to sing his praises.

In 1989, I moved to Indonesia. I moved, in truth, because the job put me closer to Japan, where I assumed I was destined to become the first gaijin emperor. In Indonesia, I help form an extremely famous marching band that travelled extensively and performed in the Tournament of Roses Parade in 1990 and 1991.

I am currently the Coordinator of Performing and Visual Arts at Sekolah Global Jaya in a suburb of Jakarta. Excellent school with a great reputation.

I am a licensed hypnotherapist and have extensive practical training in NLP, especially its use in the classroom. I excel at teaching students whom other teachers can't and kids love me because I teach them how to manipulate their parents and other teachers. I hope that isn't the only reason they like me, but I will take what I can get!

I was married for 8 years and have three step children and a daughter. My ex wife is one of the most popular pop music stars in the country. I just could not stand the environment and the people involved in the entertainment industry, paparazzi and not being able to go anywhere without being accosted for autographs and photos. Fame by association is a weird thing. Our divorce was a model for the country -well thought out, brilliantly executed for the press and entirely engineered with the children as the first priority. We are still on very good terms and the kids all go to my school, so I see them every day and they come to visit whenever they want.

I am a student of sifu Djiang (Chang), the famous Magus of Java. He is no longer taking any students and only took a few Westerners. A truly remarkable man. I am student of a sufi master. He is as humble as he is miraculous. Not an "I learned it in a book" sufi. He is the real deal and I am blessed to be a student of both these fine individuals.
